Personal Lines Underwriting Procedures
The following procedures & guidelines are to be used when submitting and/or writing new business with Standard Lines Services (SLS). Please speak to your underwriter regarding questions or market availability.
SUBMITTING NEW BUSINESS:
• Fax or Submit Online a completed quote submission. Missing or inaccurate information may affect the premium.
• SLS will market your risk with all eligible carriers to insure that we provide you the best quote possible.
• Because we work with standard markets, we look to write good quality business
• Turn-around-time on quotes is approximately 6 business hours, however, larger accounts may take up to 10 business hours. We will notify you by email (if provided on quote submission) or phone if your quote is not eligible with any of our carriers.
• Clue & MVR Reports are not ordered until a request to bind from the agent is received by SLS.
• Please review the quotation provided as it may or may not match your quote submission.
• All quotes are good for 30 days from the original quote date.
BINDING NEW BUSINESS:
• Fax a request to bind with completed application on or before the requested effective date. Original Application with down payment & required documents must be postmarked within 24-48 hours of request to bind.
• All required documents can be found on the New Business Checklist. Refer to the quote proposal for additional required documents.
• Upon receipt of a “Request to Bind” and Application, all applicable reports will be ordered. You will be notified of any changes in premium from the original quote.
• Coverage cannot be assumed to be bound without written confirmation from SLS.
• Coverage cannot be bound, amended or cancelled via the voice mail system
